2020 World Junior Hockey Championship: USA vs. Russia — Lineups, start time, and TV schedule

The United States rebounded from their loss to Canada on the opening day of the tournament by defeating Germany on the second. It wasn’t exactly a complete return to form after blowing a two-goal edge the day before. At the midpoint of the contest, the Americans were trailing the freshly promoted Germans 3-2, but they were able to command the latter half of the game, scoring four unanswered goals to pull off a 6-3 win to get three points on the board.

Russia had also started the tournament with a rough loss, theirs coming to the host Czech Republic. Russia’s response was much more emphatic as they dismantled Team Canada by a 6-0 count, the most lopsided loss the most successful nation in WJC history has ever experienced.

All five teams in Group B now have three points with one loss and one win in regulation through half of the preliminary slate. The group has essentially been reset with just three days to get it all sorted out. Victories are now crucial if a team wants to not only finish in a top spot, but avoid facing the possibility of a relegation playoff with an upset by a lesser club.
